Day Trip to Chiang Rai
Mae Kok River, Elephant Ride, Python Farm, Hill Tribe Market with textiles and crafts, Wat Rong Khun Temple, Ostrich Farm
We begin our day visiting the Elephant Camp on the Mae Kok River. Everyone will have the opportunity of a half hour elephant ride on land and in the river. There is also a snake farm. Everyone will be able to see these big pythons, If you want to have a photo with a 300+ pound Burmese Python you may for a nominal fee. There are some smaller ones you can handle as well.
Then on to visit a small Hill Tribe Market to shop for textiles and crafts. You will see both Hmong and Akha people in traditional dress.
We will then drive to Wat Rong Khun, the famous white temple. This is an artistic masterpiece filled with beautiful murals and art. There is also a museum of the creator’s original paintings and sculptures.
After we have lunch here it’s off to the ostrich farm. There you will be able to ride an ostrich or horse if you prefer. Many ostrich hide products are available.
After this everyone will be ready to return to Upcountry for a shower, cocktails and dinner. All fees, soft drinks and lunch are included. Snake photos and beer are an extra charge.
